Hello!

My name is Elani Scott, and I’m a 22-year-old college student from the Bay Area looking to share my work with the world.

A good amount of my subjects are human or human-like figures, but I tend to lean towards emphasizing a variety of pieces and styles. Thus far, most of my portfolio consists of two-dimensional expressions, but I’d like to expand on experimentation even more. As my own worst critic, I was hesitant to display many of my works. However, I want to share my development; how my art and I have not only grown from the past, but still unfolds into a new entity each day. The work on this site ranges from when I was 14 (2016) to the present year (2024). Currently not depicted, I also enjoy sewing and making jewelry.

Though I’ve been creating visual art since I could hold a pencil, I realized that it was not just a hobby--but a passion--when I was 11 years old. And since then, I haven’t looked back! In the face of challenges such as anxiety, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), visual expression has gotten me through it all. The abundance of hospitalizations and doctor visits entailed my zeal for art because wherever I went, so did my craft. It is a part of me. Despite my great support, I wondered if my love for visuals was truly worthwhile--as I was under the impression that my work didn’t have an impact on anyone. One day, I expressed this to my aunt Mary Sue as I was drawing, and she proclaimed “what are you talking about? This sketch is giving me joy.” The realization hit me, my art had impacted many and I hadn’t even grasped it. Whether it was quick portraits or dark relatability, the nurses, students, friends, family--even strangers--felt something special with my art.

Now, I want to use what I’ve learned to assist grade school students. If it helps me, it can help others too. In my future, I also plan to utilize my position to change lives by making positive innovations to the school system, even if it is little by little.
